Otto Lilienthal was the pioneer of hang-gliding ; he made 200 flights from a hill
built specially for that purpose, in Germany
2. After the second world war
Professor Francis Rogallo, from the NASA, invented a flexible hang-glider parachute
making possible to the descent back to Earth of Space Engineer. It's from Regallo's
hang-glider, that the hang-glider was developed.
3. Near 1970
A hang-glider at the time :
The hang-glider became a leisure and a fashionable sport in a lot of countries,
in particular in GB, France, Australia, New Zealand and the United States of America.
The first non-official world championship was held in 1975 ; the first official
championship took place in 1976 in Kössem, Austria.
Flights of more than 700 Km have been made possible thanks to improved hang-glider
which correspond to today's hang-gliders.
